For some reason, none of the photos show the colors as they really are. Honestly, taking pictures of nails is harder than I thought it would be. I had to look up tips on Google and still, my photos aren't where I want them. Here are a few of them though
This is a pretty good representation of the colors although the peach is really much brighter.
This one is weird because it looks sooo blue, even in the bottle, when it's actually more green.
I like this one the best. I think it looks most like what it looks like in person.
It's crazy how different these pictures of the same manicure look. The main color is China Glaze Peachy Keen. The color I'm holding in the first two pictures is China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise (neon) and the gold is Orly Luxe. The top coat is Seche Vite fast drying (best top coat ever). I like using all the China Glaze neon colors and Orly Luxe for these layered looks because they dry quickly and you only need one coat for opacity. Hope you like it!

Gorgeous! I wanted to do a design on my nails last night but then I chickened out. I started to tweet you for some confidence but figured I'd watch True Blood and call it a night. My nails are a pretty (but plain) mint green.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Lol you should have tweeted me! It's not hard to do nail designs. Why not start with something really easy like a funky french?
DeleteWe spoke about this on Twitter. I think my key to getting this look to work is to make sure I am using a super opaque color to cut down on the amount of coats I need. I'll try it again.
ReplyDeleteTurned out great.
Thank you! That is definitely key. I usually only use polishes that are opaque after just one coat for the designs. I would love to see what you come up with!
DeleteLol, I have to agree it is tricky. I still haven't gotten the hang of it. I found a way to make my pictures come out better (lighting). I literally go my living room window & peek my hand through (Because I'm usually looking a mess & don't want to get caught by the neighbors). Anyways I love this. Is there a post where you give the steps on achieving this look? I love nail art & polish. Mostly what I blog about...lately.
ReplyDeleteOh really? I will definitely be checking out your blog. I am so obsessed with nail polish. I never really thought of doing a step-by-step or a tutorial because I don't consider myself an expert by any means but that's a great idea. I will try to get that together for my next post. This was a tape mani though. So i just did 2 coats of Peachy Keen, let it dry, place 2 pieces of tape to create the chevron shape, applied 1 coat of Turned Up Turquoise, let it dry, then applied tape again to create the smaller chevron, applied Orly Luxe. Hope that helped :-) If you do a look inspired by this, I would love to see it so leave a link here!
DeleteCan you just do my nails and I'lll hold Sadie while you eat? I really want to do more than an accent nail that its a different color. I'll be locating you on Twitter for a chat. #BLMGirl
ReplyDeletelol! that's a good trade! @thecurlymama def tweet me!
